Parents

Many times, parents feel that whshutterstock_383235532at happens to their children in school is confusing and out of their control. That feeling may be particularly frustrating when a student is involved in the school discipline or court system, which may be completely unfamiliar and frightening. Parents have the right to be involved in their child’s entire education process, including in the school discipline process.

Three simple things all parents can do to stay involved are:

  • Become familiar with your school district’s Student Code of Conduct. It is available online and at your child’s school.
  • Do not be afraid to get to know the educators and administrators at your child’s school and ASK QUESTIONS if anything seems confusing!
  • Talk to your child often so that you know if they are having any issues at school that need to be addressed.
